Unit 4: Building 101

Post in the discussion thread at the bottom of the page when you've completed Unit 4.

Building 101, with brief overview of scripting: Live speaker and/or tutorial. (30 minutes)

The goal of this session is to give you an understanding of how building works, what kinds of things are possible using Second Life's building tools, and how permissions on objects work.

Tutorial/Activity:

Read:
How do I build objects?
https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417
Search for how do I build objects

Watch:

These filmmakers have attitude! but good information too.

In Second Life, create a piece of furniture for your office (or another item of your choice). Use at least three different "prims" and link them to create one object.

I decided to edit my office-sign cube to match my new bookshelves and stack the cube on top. But the cube won't stack; it hovers over the bookshelf. Is that because of the sign script?
