Setting up SL account
Here's my video tutorial on the steps to download the Second Life program, create your account, and log in for the first time:

0. check the System Requirements page to make sure your computer system will run Second Life.
1. Download the Second Life software at http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php
Versions are available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems.
2. Sign up for a Second Life account at http://www.secondlife.com
or:
(Recommended) Sign up through the New Media Consortium (NMC), which offers a very accessible orientation.
http://sl.nmc.org/join/.
3. Launch "Second Life" by doubleclicking on program. The program's icon is a distinctive green "eye-in-hand" logo. The first time you start up the software and log in, you will find yourself wearing a generic avatar in an orientation/tutorial area.

You're ready for Unit 1.
Questions? You will often find experienced Second Life "residents" in the orientation area to answer questions there. If you need more info, contact me: 'Cat Galileo 'in-world orkfitz@saclaw.org by email.
